From ‘Doing’ To ‘Being’
In my line of work, I spend time guiding, teaching and providing advice and support to people.
Here's what I've noticed over the years - it can be very easy for me to stay in this 'doing' energy - and not come out of it.
Maybe you recognise this for yourself.
Perhaps your job asks you to pour into other people, give advice, strategise, hold space for others.
We do this long enough, it becomes our familiar space - and underneath that our 'safe space'.
We know how to operate in this 'doing realm' so well, it's where we stay.
Here's the thing though:
We aren't designed to live in this masculine, results driven, productive energy 24/7.
When we exist too much in this space, life becomes cluttered.
When our focus is always outward - in other people, our tasks, the future - we lose a connection to ourselves.
It becomes hard to rest, to be present, to know what we want, where we are heading.
I've had a really lovely full month work wise, seeing clients, hosting and planning some events.
But I noticed over the weekend, I'm feeling that nudge from my body to get out of 'doing' and step into 'being'.
I'm craving a recalibration and rebalancing of my energy. I need to move from masculine —> feminine.
And you'll know if that's you too, by how your body feels today.
Are you feeling tense, on edge, irritable, are you thinking lots, racing from one thing to the next? Then these could be for you…
Here are some ways to “be” and reconnect with a softer, feminine energy:
Making time to rest and recharge:
Go for a 'phone less' walk
Make a mug of tea and sit in stillness and drink it
Dial down the stimulation - delete your apps, read a book tonight instead of watching TV, turn off music and podcasts on your drive home.
Watch your kids play without capturing the moment
Laugh (and really allow yourself to lean in and enjoy that moment).
Be playful and spontaneous with your kids, your spouse.
Be open to receiving help, love, attention, space from others.
When we make this switch from 'doing' to 'being':
We feel lighter & have more energy
Our relationships function at their best
We feel softer, more grounded and present
We are more trusting, open & collaborative
It brings a feeling of flow and enjoyment to life.
